I’ve been really getting back into good funk and soul lately. It has something to do with seeing Charles Bradley with the Menehan Street Band, Prince and Aloe Blacc with the Grand Scheme all in the same month. ‘Prince?’ I hear you exclaim. Yep, that mother is funky as shit! He did a bit of a classic medly, including Sly & the Family Stone and his own version of Kool & the Gang’s classic ‘Hollywood Swingin’ re-titled for the show’s Inglewood setting.

So to continue that vibe here’s a sneaky little non-Daptone Dap-Kings release. This one sees them pairing up with Rickey Calloway for funky number ‘I’m In Love’ with production/help from Kenny Dope! I’m still trying to find a copy over here but if you’re in Oz, hit up Chris at Northside Records. He just got a big shipment of Funk Night releases this week.
